Nancy Ann Pedden's Obituary
Nancy Ann Swanson Pedden was born on September 6, 1938, in Salamanca, New York and died peacefully at her home on November 5, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Nettie Swanson, and her husband John Alexander Pedden, and is survived by her stepdaughter, Alexis Pedden Clayton and her step-grandchildren, Robin Whitney Clayton and Drew Alexander Clayton.Nancy was an only child and lived in the small hotel that her parents owned in New York until they moved to Oklahoma. Nancy graduated from high school in 1961 and proceeded to earn both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Tulsa University where she was active in Chi Omega and Mortarboard. Upon graduation, she became a high school English teacher for Tulsa ISD until she moved to Richardson in 1972. She taught English first at Richardson Junior High and later at Liberty Junior High, where she remained until her retirement in 1993. She married Alex Pedden on February 7, 1976. After her retirement, the couple traveled extensively until Alex’s death in 2001.Nancy served on the Vestry at Epiphany for many years as Vestry Clerk and on the Executive Board of the Richardson Friends of the Library. She was also a member of the Richardson Women’s Club and served as President of that organization in 2002-2003.Funeral Services on Thursday, November 16, 2017, will be held at 10:30 am at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Rd., Richardson, Texas 75080. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at the church. Interment services will be private.The family wishes to thank Linda Wren for her devoted friendship to Nancy and for the assistance she has offered to the family.If desired, memorials can be made to the Church of the Epiphany or to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (www.community.tsrhc.org).
