Nancy Andrea Russell's Obituary
Nancy Andrea Russell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and adored friend, passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born August 22, 1944, to Ivan and Irene Bain in Pontiac, Michigan.
Nancy’s faith in God was manifested in her unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She was a gifted teacher of mathematics, but her cooking ability was her love language. She would make dishes and desserts that truly put smiles on people's faces. No one ever went hungry at the Russell house.
Nancy’s passion for her family drove her to research the ancestry of all relatives, and over the last 20 years she has compiled a family tree going back several generations. She and her husband Mike traveled to Finland to meet some of those relatives for the first time, and that trip may have been her favorite of all time. She found strength in her SISU “Finnish” roots and enjoyed connecting with all our overseas cousins.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father Ivan, mother Irene, and half-sister Barabara Bain Buchanan.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Michael Terry Russell, son, Michael Eugene Russell, son, Gary James Russell, grandson Mischa Russell, son, Keith Ivan Russell and wife Dayna Russell, grandsons, Christopher and Zackary Russell, brother Ivan “Butch” Bain and wife Kelly Bain, sister, Carolyn Bain and partner William Thorsted.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on August 1st, 2024, at Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9am, followed by the service at 10:00am. Please join us in remembering and honoring Nancy during this time and keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
