Nancy Jo Stearns' Obituary
Nancy Jo Lyons Stearns was born on July 16, 1938, to Neal Lyons and Elizabeth Lyons in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956. Later that year, she met the love of her life, Donald Stearns. They married on February 8, 1957. Don and Nancy were an example to all who met them through their 59 years of marriage. Nancy remained devoted to Don after his death in 2016.Don and Nancy spent a lifetime together raising three children. Nancy was a dedicated mother to Donald, Jr., William, and Laura. Nancy was the president of the PTA at Greenwood Hills Elementary. She was actively involved in her many churches. She served as a youth leader, a deacon, a wedding coordinator, a Clown for Christ, and a leader for women’s circle. Nancy was also a Girl Scout leader. Her children always knew that she loved and cared for them through her actions and words.Nancy worked as office manager for several doctors. She enjoyed interacting with patients and organizing the office.Nancy loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful Granny to them. She made them feel loved and special. She will be deeply missed by them.Nancy passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019, surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Stearns, Sr., her mother, Elizabeth Lyons, her father, Neal Lyons, and her sister, Karen Samples. She is survived by her son, Donald Stearns, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, her son, William Stearns, and her daughter, Laura Herbst and her husband, Fred. Nancy also is survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Stearns, his wife, Devyn and great grandchild, soon to be born; Callie Stearns; Rochelle Willingham and her husband, Britain; Garrett Herbst, his wife, Heather, and great grandchildren, Abby and Evelyn; and Alyssa Herbst. Her heart and love will live on in all that knew her.Funeral service will be on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
