Nancy C. Weldon's Obituary
WELDON, NANCY B. CHAPPELEAR born May 28, 1914 in Orange County, Virginia to Benjamin Winn Chappelear and Sallie Higginbotham Chappelear. She grew up in Delaplane, Virginia, lived in Washington, DC, Williamsburg, Virginia and Dallas, Texas. Nancy lived a long and wonderful life and passed away at age 99 and a half on October 26, 2013 in Dallas, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sally Hoberman, her husband James O. Weldon of Dallas, Texas and his son Thomas O. Weldon of Athens, Texas. Nancy is survived by her niece, Nancy Hart of Fort Myers, Florida, nephew Curtis Hoberman of Princeton, New Jersey, great niece Susan Kearney of Braintree, Massachusetts, great nephew Thomas Hart, Jr. of Fort Myers, and great-great niece Claire Kearney. Nancy is also survived by her late husband’s son James F. Weldon of Dallas, Texas, daughter Mary Claire Weldon Henderson of Quinlan, TX and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy had a distinguished career as an executive secretary at the United States Information Agency in Washington, DC from which she retired in 1974. In retirement, she was an active member of the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, Virginia. She also devoted her energies and resources to various charitable institutions and philanthropic organizations to help those in need and assist the education of young men and women and on conservation especially wildlife and its habitat. She enjoyed charitably assisting others to help improve their quality of life today and in the future. Washington Cathedral and Cumberland College were some of her favorite organizations to help them in their cause. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Restland Abbey Chapel.
