Nancy Ann Williams' Obituary
Nancy Ann Stegall Williams, passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, in her sleep on July 13, in the Guest House at Graceland in Memphis, TN while on vacation with her family. Nancy was born in Wichita Falls, TX on September 15, 1942 to W.E. "Bill" and Carrie Stegall. She was creative, a bit quirky, and a very genuine person who loved to serve others. She took great joy in serving family as well as having a special interest in serving children, helping to foster a love of music and Biblical principles.
Nancy grew up an only child to loving parents, as well as aunts and uncles, who made her feel safe, loved and valued. She enjoyed spending time with her father and her uncles at their lake house or exploring historic sites of battles between Texas Rangers and Native Americans. She graduated from Holliday High School in Holliday, TX in 1960. She then attended the University of North Texas where she studied music with a focus on flute and piccolo. She was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority and graduated in 1964. Following graduation, she embarked on a month-long trip with one of her best girlfriends. Upon returning, she embarked on a lifelong career in teaching.
On Thanksgiving day 1967, she met Larry Williams on the beach in Acapulco. This was love at first sight, and on July 26, 1969, at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, she and Larry were married. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 53 years. They honeymooned in New Orleans, Miami, the Bahamas, and Jamaica. They enjoyed5 years together before welcoming their only son, Brad, into the world.
Nancy taught for 18 years at several schools within the Dallas Independent School District. In 1982, she took a leave of absence from teaching to take care of her mother, who suffered from Parkinson's Disease. As an act of love, desperation and a way to serve others, she started a Parkinson's support group in Wichita Falls. She was very close with her mother and grieved greatly when she passed.
Later in 1982, she was recruited by her friend Sondra Saunders, to join the CLC -Mother's Day Out program at Prestonwood to teach music. In 1997, Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA)was founded and she was invited to teach lower school music. She was able to combine her passion for Christ with her passion for teaching music for 20 years until retiring in2017. Over the years, Nancy impacted countless children, sharing her love of Jesus, music, and US History.
In2003, Nancy gained the daughter she always wanted when Brad married Crystal Trujillo. Two years later she welcomed her first granddaughter, Cameran, with her 2nd Granddaughter, Gemma Cate arriving in 2010. Cameran and Gemma grew up with their PCA family, where they grew to learn the books of the Bible, a love of Bible stories through music, and the love of family in Christ.
Nancy loved to travel the world with Larry, enjoying the cultures of countries such as Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Fiji, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, and many more. As it were, she was known to coordinate with missions and ministries and bring donations to help them share the gospel of Christ.
Nancy lived life on mission for Christ. She had a servant's heart and looked for ways to help people in need as well as to further the gospel around the world. One of her favorite missions to support was Engage Hope in Uganda.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Larry, son Brad, daughter-in-law Crystal, and granddaughters Cameran and Gemma. She was preceded in death by her parents Carrie and Bill, as well as her aunts, and uncles.
