Nehenah Myrtie Smith's Obituary
Nehenah Myrtie Smith of Richardson, Texas passed on November 22,2024 at the age of 97.
Born in Dunn, North Carolina to Robert Cannady and Nehenah Myrtie Cannady (Harnette) on October 29th, 1927; Myrt's life was a dance of rhythm, and an unending pursuit of knowledge.
Her love for dancing was evident in every step she took, whether swaying in the kitchen while cooking for her family or stepping the polka on The Lawrence Welk Show in her youth, dancing was a consistent note of enjoyment through her life.
In addition to her love for dance, Myrt held education in the highest regard. She believed that knowledge was the key to a better future and instilled this value in her children. Her dedication to learning and teaching left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy McBride Smith.
She is survived by her daughters; Lynne Smith-Brush and Anne Grills; her grandchildren, Lisa Brewer and Jason DeVore; and her great-grandchild, Carter DeVore.
