Neighl L. Groh's Obituary
Neighl Lawrence Groh, 91 of Rowlett, passed from this life into an eternity with Jesus whom he loved with all his heart on Saturday, April 25, 2015. There he will hear Jesus say what he has always longed to hear: “Well done my good and faithful servant”. There will be a graveside service at Restland Funeral Home for the family on Tuesday April 28th , followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Park Cities Baptist Church in the Ellis Chapel, with a reception to follow. He was born the sixth out of seven children on August 26, 1923 in Garden City, Missouri, the son of Robert W.Groh and Stella Patton Groh. He grew up in Enid, Oklahoma and joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 where he flew injured transport missions over the Pacific Ocean. Then, after the war, he met and married LaVerne Fitzpatrick. He also went to school at the University of Tulsa where he graduated with a business degree and worked as a salesman for almost 40 years, the majority of that time with Becton Dickinson. He had two beautiful daughters Cathy Webster and Luana Sudan and six grandchildren. His wife passed away in 1987 and he remarried a family friend Bettye Meers. He was one of few men to have two enduring marriages of over 25 years each. He was blessed to inherit two more beautiful daughters Patti Swearingen and Linda Anthony and six more grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” and “Sugarmonster” to his 12 grandchildren. Added blessings in his later life have been his 14 great grandchildren. He was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and a longtime member of Park Cities Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for 40 years. He was also a member of the Gideons. He read through the Bible every year for 40 years and shared the gospel at every opportunity. He was a very gregarious man who never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Bettye Groh, his two daughters Cathy Webster and husband Jimmy, Luana Sudan and husband Artie and stepdaughters Patti Swearingen and husband Gary, Linda Anthony and husband Tom. He has a sister-in-law Sandra Kendall. His grandchildren are: Stephanie Webster, Anna Lee Webster, Christy Ogden, Amy Marable, Jason Sudan, Mary Beth D’Brot, Joanna Criswell, Joel Swearingen, Hailey Neds, Meredith Anthony, Melissa Anthony, and Alicyn Anthony. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
