Neil Sims Daugherty's Obituary
Passed away peacefully on January 5, 2013. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jean H. Daugherty (Col. USAF ret.), she is survived by her children, Jean H. (Sandy) Daugherty II of Edgewater, MD., Gregory N. and Cathy P. Daugherty of Ashland, VA., Debra S. Daugherty of Dallas, TX., and a multitude of loving family friends. Punkin was born in Dallas, TX., on November 2, 1919 to Neil Sims and Jennie Van Gordon Sims. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School and ETSU. As a military wife, she raised her family through 26 different address changes throughout the world, before retiring back to Dallas. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and hospitality even into the last stages of her illness and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
