Neil Stewart Fussell's Obituary
Neil Stewart Fussell, age 89, passed away December 13, 2014, in Dallas, Texas, where he had lived for 56 years. He was born in Austin, Texas, to William Stewart and Alma Bess Fussell. He was a graduate of Austin High School and The University of Texas at Austin. Neil served in the United States Army Air Forces as an Aviation Cadet during World War II. At the conclusion of the war, he returned to UT Austin to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, he was employed by Texaco in Port Arthur, Texas, where he met and married Wyoma Feuge. In 1958 they moved to Dallas, where he was employed by LTV. Neil thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, water and snow skiing, boating and camping. He was passionately devoted to music throughout his life, and was a longtime season ticket holder of the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, as well as a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir for 48 years. After retirement, Neil devoted much of his time to volunteer work, including North Dallas Shared Ministries, The Senior Source and North Texas Food Bank. He delivered Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Wyoma; sons Walter Neil Fussell and David Stewart Fussell, both of Dallas, Texas; daughter Carol Lee Everett, son-in-law Joe Bob Everett, and grandchildren Jeffrey Blane, Mason Caroline and Landry Elise Everett, all of Austin, Texas. Neil’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Neil will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at Ellis Chapel, Park Cities Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Meals on Wheels, The Senior Source, North Dallas Shared Ministries or the North Texas Food Bank.
