Nelda Jo Davis' Obituary
Davis (Scott), Nelda Jo, was welcomed to her eternal home on April 24, 2015, at the age of 87. Nelda was born to parents Henry and Mattie Scott on March 8, 1928 in Collinsville, Texas. She graduated from Collinsville High School in 1945 and moved to Dallas the next year, beginning a 40 year career with Southwestern Bell. During those years, she worked in various administrative roles and with the SWBT field force to install and manage telephone service across Dallas; she was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers. Nelda met CB Davis on a blind date with her best friends and married him in 1948. They had 3 children – Blake, Teresa and Melissa. Nelda was a very active member of Royal Haven and Park Forest Baptist churches, where she taught 1st grade Sunday School and was a leader in the Women’s Mission Union for decades. She was 50+ year member in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in various officer roles. Nelda loved people; her home was always open. She loved to laugh, play games and puzzles, and go on adventures. Her true joy came through her children and grandchildren, and she would do anything to ensure their security and happiness. Nelda is welcomed to heaven by her parents Henry and Mattie Scott, siblings Leota Glaze, Ocie Hutton, Earlyne Rogers, Doris Dulaney, HB Scott and their spouses, husband CB Davis, husband Jack Rutledge. She is survived by son Blake Davis and wife Carrie, daughters Teresa Hastings and husband Alan, Melissa Blizzard and husband Howard; Grandchildren Taylor Millender and husband Michael, Sarah and Julianne Hastings, Brittany, Chase and Jason Blizzard; great granddaughter Kinsley Harrison. Nelda’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Services for Nelda will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
