I posted this on the Legacy website for Tammy Miller Jones on 8-14.
Dear Tammy and Mother, Another beautiful soul joined you and I am sure you were excited to greet her! Nell Alspaw passed yesterday and I had just spoken with her in the last couple of weeks. I called Nell to check on her sister, Miriam, because McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley had been in the news lately for having a lot of Covid19 cases. I had left Miriam a voice mail message and she had not called me back. (I did speak with Miriam the next day.) So that is when I found out Nell was in the hospital because she was having trouble breathing. She said they tested her 3 times for Covid and it came back negative. I told her I would like to keep in touch with her and she said that would be nice. I spoke with Nell one more time and also with her daughter, Julie, before calling again on 8-12. Her son, John, answered and told me she had taken a turn for the worse and was not expected to survive. I was so sorry and surprised to get that news. Nell was a beautiful person, inside and out, and she will be missed by her husband, Ivan, and all of her family and friends. I am sure she was not ready to leave all of them, but I know she is surrounded by so much love there too.
(Tammy and I are sisters and cousins of Nell. And my Mother, Serena, was Nell's Aunt. They were both very close with Nell because they all lived in the Dallas area and visited with each other on many occasions.)
