Nell Louise Gammon's Obituary
Nell Louise Gooding Gammon was born July 29, 1916 and went with her angels on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the age of 92 in Dallas, Texas. She was a patient and loving wife, Mother and friend. Nell was born in Madison, Wisconsin; grew up in Joplin, Missouri; and moved to Dallas during World War II. She was married to Alton E. Gammon from 1946 until his death in 1993. They were married at Central Christian Church in Dallas, Texas and she remained an active member until her decline in health didn’t allow for worship attendance. She worked full time as the financial secretary at Central for 25 years while they raised their four children. Nell sang in the Chancel Choir for many years; rang in the Handbell Choir, including trips to Hawaii and New Zealand to play for the World Convention of Christian Churches; and was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship making cookies and cakes for every need. She is survived by her four children: Sharon Goddard, Richard Gammon, Pam Gammon (Michael Allen), and John Gammon (Sandy Waal); grandchildren Ashley Hale (Jeff), Christina Gammon, Dorothy Goddard, Kit Waal, Kevin Goddard, Scott Allen, and Jordan Allen; and great-grandchildren Haley Hale and Joshua Hale. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home December 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside Dr, Dallas Texas 75209. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Central Christian Church. We will miss her sweet presence and her quiet wisdom.
