Nellie Arlene Tlanda's Obituary
Nellie Arlene Tlanda, 101, of Plano, TX passed away August 14, 2020 in Plano, TX of natural causes. She was born June 10, 1919 to Charles McLaughlin and Pauline McLaughlin in Middletown, IL. She married Joseph Tlanda on May 11, 1944 in Canton, OH. After marriage she devoted her life to family, home, gardening, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was a member of Campbell Green Women's Card Club and Prestonwood Court Card Club.
Proceeded in death by her parents - Charles & Pauline McLaughlin, Her brothers Henry, Don, Jake, & Walter McLaughlin, and her sister, Zorie Dillman.
Survived by her daughter, Donna Krauss, and son, Mike Tlanda (Wife - Anne). Grandchildren - Kim Follis (Husband - John), Richard Elias, Chris Tlanda (Wife - Rachel), Scott Tlanda, and Mark Tlanda. Great Grandchildren - Connor Follis, Mackenzie Follis, and Madison Tlanda.
She is also survived by her Nieces and Nephews, Anna Pauline Richard (Canton, OH), Judy Hathhorn (Atlanta, IL), Glenn McLaughlin (Wife - Donna)(Atlanta, IL), Jan Robbins (Husband - Doug)(Lincoln, IL), Rhonda McCellan (Steve Lisjack)(Fairbury, IL), Don McLaughlin (Wife - Caryn)(Lincoln, IL), Denise Schafer-Junger (Husband - Karl)(Frisco, TX).
Nellie was a devoted mother, but excelled and greatly enjoyed her role as "Nana" to her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. In later life, Nellie enjoyed the companionship of other women who played games, such as bingo, rummikub (she was the queen & big winner), kings in the corner, darts, table pong, ...
She also enjoyed the crafts and current event activities at Prestonwood Court, word search, Fox news, and the politics of the day. She was always more than willing to share her opinion and offer advice on any subject.
Smart as a whip, and highly respected within the Prestonwood Court community. She will be missed.
