Neva Blakely's Obituary
Neva Keesee Blakely, age 92, passed away peacefully at her residence in Clifton, Texas on June 20, 2018. Services to celebrate Neva’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas, Texas on Monday, June 25, 2018. Visitation hours will be observed at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.Neva was born to George Hayden Keesee and Ida Rosa Wesson on March 11, 1926, in Itasca, Texas. She was raised in Cleburne, Texas where she graduated high school in 1943. Neva married Henson Lee Blakely on August 30, 1946. They had two sons, Charles Lyndon Blakely and Gerald Lee Blakely. Neva and Henson settled in Richardson where she worked for the Richardson Independent School District in the Food and Nutrition Department for 39 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson where she enjoyed singing in a traveling choir group for many years. She took pleasure in playing bridge, dominoes, sewing, and gardening, and she had a special knack for growing the most beautiful red roses. Neva took great pride in her family and grandchildren and moved to Clifton, Texas in 2000 to be closer to her sons.Neva is survived by her son, Charles Blakely, and wife, Sue; daughter-in-law, Beth Blakely; granddaughter Shauna Lane and her husband, Nored of Ralls; granddaughter Michelle Webb and husband, Tom of Jasper, Texas; grandson John Blakely and wife, Jennifer of Palestine, Texas. Great-grandchildren Cassidy Lane, Seth Lane, Colt Webb, Wyatt Webb, Emma Blakely, Jacob Blakely, Kyle Shaver, Kailyn and Rico Harris.Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Henson Blakely; son, Gerald Blakely; parents, George Keesee and Ida Rose Wesson, all of her brothers, and sisters.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton, Texas for their compassionate care for Neva over the past years.The family request that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Monday, June 25, 2018. A funeral service for Neva Blakely will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Restland Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
