Neva West Martin Tomlinson's Obituary
Neva West Martin Tomlinson passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2015. She was born in Dallas to Lee & Monta Bullard West on April 13, 1925. She is predeceased by her first husband, Harold Gene Martin who was killed in WWII, her second husband of over 50 years, Ross Weir Tomlinson, her sister Virginia Ellen Weaver, and her grand-daughter Stacy Tomlinson Gibson. She is survived by her son Harold Lee Martin Tomlinson and his wife Nancy as well as her daughter Jan Tomlinson Greeson and her husband Gordon. She is also survived by her grand-children Tracy Tomlinson Debnam and husband Thurston, Robert Gordon Greeson and wife Beth, and Jennifer Neva Greeson Bernier and husband Brian. She is also survived by the loves of her life – 6 great grand-children: Parker Debnam, West, Claire, & William Greeson and Ingrid & Samuel Bernier. Other surviving family members include her sister Jennie Marie Hanson, Margie Elkins, and James Gibson. Many friends including Betty, Carollyn, and Judy, and numerous nieces and nephews will also miss her dearly. Neva was above all else a caregiver. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her role as the matriarch of the family. Her goal in life was to make others happy. She loved to entertain and set elaborate tables at every event she hosted. All holidays were celebrated vigorously, but her favorites were Christmas and her birthday. She also loved travel and flowers and she visited gardens all over the world. Neva was able to spend the last years of her life at Highland Springs and finally at Fountain View at Highland Springs. The staffs at Highland Springs, Fountain View, and VNA Hospice became extended family members over the years. They all loved her sense of humor, her quick smile and her generous nature. The family would like to thank all those that walked this journey with us. The family could not have made it these last months without the help of an excellent staff, dedicated caregivers, and the love and support of friends. A memorial service will be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel on July 18, 2015 at 4:00. Her life will be celebrated at a reception immediately following the service. For those wanting to honor her life, share your heart with the less fortunate or share the beauty of flowers, but above all else, next time you have a glass of champagne toast the woman we all love and miss.
