Neva June Taylor's Obituary
Neva June Glenn was born June 28, 1919 in a farm house in Olustee, Oklahoma, the third of four children and only daughter of Curt and Ava Glenn, who were farming in the area. They would move on to Duke where she graduated from high school. She attended Altus Junior College and then moved on to the University of Oklahoma in Norman. There she would meet the love of her life, an engineering student named John D Taylor from Blair, also in Jackson County. John took his first job with General Electric in Schenectady, New York and June got on a train in Duke to meet him. They were married there on August 2, 1941 with two recent acquaintances as witnesses. During the war they would move to Lynn, Massachusetts, Charleston, South Carolina, Pascagoula, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Steve was born there in 1948. The next stop was Alexandria, Louisiana, and then Atlanta, Georgia where Scott was born in 1959. Their final move to Dallas was in 1973.
They were very active in their church and community and June was always ready to get involved when needed. She served on numerous PTAs, church committees, scouting committees, and women’s organizations, and frequently found herself in leadership positions.
Most recently she served as president of the local and national Assistance League, and was committed to providing scholarships for deserving young women through the Dallas PEO.
She and John had a wide circle of friends, enjoyed traveling and playing golf together especially after his retirement, and seemed to remain almost like newlyweds until his death 20 years ago. She continued to remain active with a large circle of friends in her neighborhood and at Edgemere where she had the pleasure of staying close to many long term friends.
She is survived by her sons Steve (Julie) of Vivian, Louisiana and Scott (Lisa) of Dallas and two grandchildren John and Emily of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Assistance League of Dallas.
