Newton "Clay" Stevens' Obituary
Mr. Newton “Clay” Stevens was born May 12, 1956, to the parentage of Enoch and Bonnie Stevens in Memphis, Tennessee.
Clay joined the army at age 17, in the 82nd airborne his favorite thing to do was jump in which he did 54 times. He attended the University of North Texas where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He was last employed with Aluma Graphics in Wylie, Texas where he served 20 years as their QA Manager and attended night school to get QA qualified. He was the only veteran on their staff and the only one to earn a college degree. They let him go just shy of his twenty years without cause, denying him his retirement benefits. It broke his heart.
Clay is survived by his spouse of Jacquelyn “Jackie” Jones. Stepdaughters; Cherilyn Kelly Luccous and Jacquelyn Christina Luccous. Step Grandchildren; Cherilyn Miles, Danielle Valles, Shayne Lindsey, Trisha Watson, and Makala Watson. Sister; Gina Kay Gilligan; niece, Margaret Gilligan; and nephew, Michael Gilligan.
For 42 years Clay loved Jackie, and Jackie loved Clay. He loved to cook and teach people, very funny, quiet and most of all a gentle giant.
Clay slipped away from us on Friday, March 31, 2023, his funny and gentle spirit will be dearly missed.
