Ngoc Thi Luu's Obituary
Ngoc Luu was born May 9,
1931 in Tuy Hoa, Central Vietnam and went to Heaven March 3, 2021. She married Mr. Chinh Van Tran in 1950. Together they had 14 children, with 11 living in the United States. Her husband passed in a Communist prison in July 1980 and despite this loss, she never
remarried, choosing instead to focus on supporting her family. In 1992, she came to the United States to join her children.
Ngoc Luu had 11 adult children
and 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All of them are doing well with their families and careers. Three of them served in the US Navy, US Marines, and Texas National Guard. Among them, there is a medical doctor, a Baptist pastor, a nurse, and several
managers and engineers. Many of her grandchildren are in medical school and universities. They all attribute their success to love and support of their parents but also their grandma.
Ngoc Luu survived the Vietnam
War from childhood to adulthood and Communism from 1975 until she left her home country in 1992. There was much suffering and hardship that came with many children and difficult circumstances but she had a simple mindset through it all: improving the economic
conditions of her family and children. She pushed them to achieve a higher education and find success in life. She supported her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in so many ways and was well loved by all of them.
While living in the United
States for the last 29 years, she enjoyed her life with family and friends. Her birthdays were always a big celebration where a full house of at least 50 people would gather to wish her "Happy Birthday" and shower her with love and gifts.
She traveled quite a bit with her children all over the US, as well as Canada, many of the Caribbean Islands, Europe, Japan, Mexico, and back to Vietnam.
She was a member of Richardson
Vietnamese Baptist Church (now Redeemer Baptist Church of Plano) since 1992. As a long-time member, she had quite a few friends and they will miss her dearly.
Although we wanted her
to be with us for a much longer time and we mourn temporarily losing her on this earth, we look forward to seeing her in Heaven again in the future. We are comforted by the fact that she loved all of us and we loved her back. She was able to enjoy her life
by traveling, making numerous friends inside and outside of church, and surrounding herself with her big family. This is Ngoc Luu’s legacy and we thank God for our mom and grandma.
