Nicholas Alexander's Obituary
Nicholas Brent Alexander, 30, of Dallas, Texas passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Although actively working on regaining his mental balance Nicholas struggled with PTSD and BPD following his service in the USMC. Born February 21, 1987 in Lewisville, Texas he was the son of Stephen Alexander and Sandy Afalla Alexander. Nicholas graduated from The Colony High School and then served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal. Following his service, Nicholas continued his work as an Aerial Systems Avionics Technician as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan. He was best known by the people he served with as ” Bear Cat” Alexander. Nicholas enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, golf, football, and grilling for friends and family, but his most treasured moments were those he spent just “being a dad” with his son. Nicholas is survived by his wife and son Kandis Ramsdale and Jacob Brent Alexander of Oceanside, CA; parents Stephen Alexander and Sandy Afalla Alexander (Dallas), sister Janessa Alexander (Little Elm), twin brother William Alexander (Plano) and brother Anthony Alexander (U.S. Army Dongducheon, South Korea). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Nicholas is preceded in death by his grandparents, Weldon and Norma Alexander and Ron and Doris Afalla, and his uncle Kyle Alexander. Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Valwood Baptist Church, 2727 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
