Nina Jean Bennett-Dicus' Obituary
Nina Jean Bennett-Dicus was born on April 20,1927 in the small central Texas town of Moody, to the proud parents of Charles Elisha and Ethel Lucinda Eakin. Jean passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024 at the age of 97 years young
Jean enjoyed a quiet life by toiling away at her bookkeeping, accounting, and tax accounting service for over 60+ years. She didn't have any real hobbies to speak of but loved giving and caring for her family and cooking for her sons on special days, birthdays, holidays and even her special day, Mother’s Day! Jean married John Harry Bennett in January 1947 in Bryan, Texas where she gave birth to her eldest son, Charles Bryant Bennett in December 1947. After moving to New Mexico a few years later, she gave birth to a second son, Harry Eugene Bennett in December 1950, oddly enough three years apart on the same day (she was an accountant). Following the death of her husband, John Harry Bennett, in March 1984, she maintained her love for family, friends and her passion for accounting as a two time President of the Texas Association of Enrolled Agents. In January 2000, she married Joseph Dicus of St. Louis, MO. She and Joe traveled for several years on vacations and to his home in St. Louis while maintaining their home in Sunnyvale and her business until Joe's passing in September 2006.
Jean was the youngest of five children and preceded in death by both parents, three brothers and a sister, as well as both husbands, John Harry and Joe, her son, Charles and granddaughter, Angela Dawn Bennett. She is survived by her son, Harry, three grandchildren, Todd Bennett & wife Sherry of Wills Point, Amy Bennett-Bromely of Rockwall and Jared Bennett & wife Ashley of Newcastle, OK. Thirteen (13) great grandchildren, Trent, Kara & husband Matt, Savannah, Sarah, Tanner, Austin, Hunter, Tyler, Alex, Austin, Hayden, Aubri, Maddux, and two great great grandchildren Finley and Lane.
