Nona Fay Chestnut's Obituary
Nona Fay Chestnut, age 77, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in Dallas, Tx. She was born September 12, 1931 in Ferris, Tx., the daughter of Benjamin and Veneta Mason. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Bill Hayes of Raleigh, N.C. and Sandra and Dale Ballinger of Garland, Tx.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother – Fran Smith of Allen, Tx., Wanda Womack of Lewiston, Id., Johnnie Mason of Gainesville, Tx., Betty Shields of Adkins, Tx. and Judy Frederick of Tyler, Tx. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Chestnut and Floyd James; and one great-grandson, Casey Shaddock. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts and playing with her great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Golden Meadows Baptist Church for many years, where she taught Sunday School, participated in the “Busy Bees” quilting group and volunteered with an Alzheimer’s support group. She was respected and loved by her family and many friends. A visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 at Rodgers Baptist Church, 801 Buckingham Rd. in Garland.
