Norma Lynne Leavitt's Obituary
Saturday, July 11th our precious Mother, Grandmother, Mima, Mimi went to meet her Lord and Savior. She left behind so many who truly loved her, yet we rejoice in the knowledge that she is home now and no longer suffering.
She has lived all her life in the Dallas area. She attended Highland Park High School and then later graduated Southern Methodist University. Spent her career in the accounting and tax preparation field which she enjoyed and excelled. She was an avid bridge player and was extremely competitive at it. Being a devout Christian, she read her bible daily. She has been a long-time member at Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Plano. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Especially enjoyed her grand-kids. Truly loved her time in fellowship and serving with her CWF group. She also always enjoyed dancing. At home, you would often find her involved in a good game of dominoes or cards. Always playing to win!
Norma had such a big heart. She loved all her family fiercely and will be so dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Leavitt; son, Eddie Leavitt; parents, Bert V. and Cara Burgin Dooley; and sister, Barbara Gilchrist.
Norma is survived by her children, Lynne Shaw of Richardson, Pat Myers of Plano, Diane Tabor of Richardson, Debra Shafer of Flagstaff, Arizona, Mark Leavitt of Boston, Massachusetts, Laird Leavitt of Seattle, Washington; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Prairie Creek Baptist Church Plano on Friday, July 17th at 2:00 pm with Randy Marshall officiating.
