Norma Jean (Minner) Bryant, 86 Born January 2, 1929 in Beaumont, TX, raised in Dallas and lived in Plano for 40 years – Died April 25, 2015 Dallas, TX. Preceded in death by parents Harry Herbert Minner & Maybelle (Westcott) Minner . Surviving Siblings: Barbara Jan (Minner) Reese of Dallas & Ronald Joseph Minner of Dallas. Married to Robert Stanley 1949 in Dallas, TX One child Sharon (Stanley) Crane, husband Bill Crane. Married to Billy Harrison Bryant 1954 in Dallas, TX Three children: Rhonda (Bryant) Holley husband Manuel Alvarado, Matthew Harrison Bryant wife Julie Bryant, Denise (Bryant) Reid husband Brian Reid. Widowed in 2001 when her husband of 47 years, Bill, died of a heart attack while suffering from congestive heart failure. Graced by 6 grandchildren: Kristen Crane Haese, Brian Crane, Matthew Bryant, Heather Reid, Trevor Reid, Emma Reid. Then Grand-graced by 5 great-grandchildren to whom she was GG: Jacob Meyer, Jordan & Jackson Haese, Torrie Walter & Jaden Berry. And coincidentally, she leaves behind her loving little dog, also named GiGi. Graduated Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1947, Highland Park Secretarial School in 1948. Worked as a secretary for various companies throughout her life, including Halliburton Oil & JC Penneys. During her years as a homemaker, she served in many capacities involving her children’s school activities: ALWAYS room mother, chaperone, Fund raising, Brownie Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Soccer mom. Being brought up in the 30s and 40s instilled a strong love and sense of country for Norma as she remained a true patriot all her life. Raised in the Roman Catholic faith, she later joined St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Dallas where she was active in St. Monica’s Guild during the 60s. In recent years, she was baptized into the First Baptist Church of Plano. In later life, she enjoyed the company of her dear friends, playing cards every week, attending book clubs, going to the movies and out to eat and was active in the Red Hat Society, particularly the Prissy Red Hatters group. Dedicated fan of Dancing with the Stars. She succumbed to complications from Congestive Heart Failure on Saturday morning April 25, being in and out of the hospital since Jan 21 of this year. She was able to pass fairly peacefully in her apartment at White Rock Court surrounded by her family. Services for Norma will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, May 1, 2015 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30-10:30. Followed by a brief graveside service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
