Norma Gene Platt's Obituary
Norma Gene Platt, 91, of Mesquite, Texas passed away at home peacefully on July 19, 2025, after a long illness.
Norma was born on September 2, 1933, at the end of the depression, in Dallas, Texas, to George and Ida Mae McNeely Jones. She was the 9th to be born of 12 children in her family. She was raised near downtown Dallas and attended Crozier Tech High School. Her memories include growing up with no indoor bathrooms or hot running water.
Norma was a great cook and loved caring for her family and her home. Her favorite moments were time spent with family and studying God’s word. She accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of 9. In addition, she was a dedicated employee, working for over 40 years, primarily in insurance and medical billing.
Norma is survived by one brother, Jerry Oliver Jones, her children, Steve Moore (Tincy), Modenia Moore Whitaker (Larry) and Kyle Moore (Donna), Duane Platt (Julie), Marilyn Platt,14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barry Platt and her son, John Robert (Bobby) Moore Jr, siblings Gertie Corine Lynch, Lola May Henry, Clarence Edward Jones, Helen Katherine Pearson, James Clay Jones, Robert Landrum Jones, Grace Lee Massey, Mary Joyce Hoskins, Richard Arthur Jones, and Nancy Elizabeth Gragson.

A private memorial service is planned for immediate family at Restland Cemetery.
