Norman Wayne Black's Obituary
Norman Wayne grew up in the farm community of Cobb, north of Durant, Oklahoma. He worked on his family's farm, played with his cousins and brothers, roamed the woods of the 12 Mile Prairie, and excelled in basketball. After graduating from Cobb School in 1947, he attended Murray State School of Agriculture. In 1948, he married his best friend Georgeanna Harlin, whom he had known since second grade. They soon traveled to the West Texas Panhandle town of Borger, where he began his career as a welder for Carl Cline Construction Company and Phillips Petroleum. In the 1950s, he and Georgeanna moved their family to Denton, Texas and then to Dallas, where he worked for North Texas Tank, Trinity Steel, and American Tank, perfecting the highly specialized skills necessary for the arc welding. He was a well-respected, talented designer of custom-bult propane and gas tanks during his career of over 40 years. He retired from Texas Welding and Manufacturing Company after many years at the age of 61. Using his creative talents to refinish furniture, repair or build anything, he worked side-by-side with "George" on many decorating projects. After living in Oak Cliff area of Dallas for 45 years, they moved to Carrollton, Texas in 2000. Recently they moved to Midtowne Assisted Living in Midlothian, Texas. Wayne and Georgeanna celebrated their75th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2023.
Wayne Black will be remembered as a kind, gentle, hardworking, self-sufficient person whose life was a testament to honesty, integrity, and devotion to family. As a Christian, his strong belief in Jesus was evident in his life. He attended Westmorland Heights Baptist Church in Dallas with his family, and Northside Baptist Church in Carrollton with Georgeanna.

...an adored grandfather to eight: Wendy Black, Glen Sipes (Sandy), Chris Carloy (Sierra), Elliott Marshall (Krysta), Taylor Marshall (fiance' Shaun), Katy Golden (Cody), Patrick Black (Sydney), and Amanda Black.
...a much loved great grandfather to three: Alexandra Essein (Zach), Nicole Black and Finnley Golden.
He is survived by his brother Ray Black (Patsy) of Rockwall, TX. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruedolph and Irene Black, his brother Gene Black and sister-in-law Irene, two sisters, Joyce Black Harlin and Nell Black Jones and brother-in-law, Eldon.
He will be missed by all who loved him.
