Norman Kantor's Obituary
Norman Kantor, Husband, Father and Grandfather. Our father was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1926 during the period called the greatest generation. Growing up he often spoke of memories playing stick ball and going to Coney Island with his life-long pal Dave Tobin. Pop served in WWII as a B-17 Gunner in the Air Force and served until 1949. After the war, Pop and Dave moved to Dallas, driving down in his yellow 49 Ford convertible and Dave in his Red one. Both had numerous adventures, working in the aerospace industry and then in the burlesque business during a notorious time for the US when President Kennedy was assassinated. He told stories about the Theater Lounge and some of their frequent customers, like Jack Ruby. Eventually Pop went into sales and had a highly successful career in the wine and spirits industry. In 1970, Pop met the love of his life and married Beverly Radke and their love affair continued even after her death in 2012. They shared that love affair for 42 years. It was filled with the love of travel domestically and abroad; they also enjoyed going to musicals, the theater and to the horse races.
His pride and joy were his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Our father was a wise and loving man with a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger and consistently had a smile on his face. His thirst for knowledge was constant. He loved watching Jeopardy, trivia, playing poker and listening to Frank Sinatra. He was a great father and sometimes a pain in the ass but our love for him never wavered.
His passing is hard. Knowing he is now with the love of his life, makes this sad time in our lives bearable.
Goodbye for now Pop; we will see you again. We miss you very much.
