Norman Dean Oswald's Obituary
Norman Dean Oswald, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 86. A proud resident of Prosper, Texas, Norman was born in Dallas on September 13, 1939. He lived a life marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.
Dean graduated from Sunset High School in 1958 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, where he was a proud member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. On June 18, 1960, he married the love of his life, Carol—a union that became the cornerstone of his life for over 65 years.
After college, Dean joined the family business, Standard Manufacturing, in 1963. His leadership and vision guided the company as president from 1972 until its closing in 2003. Retirement didn’t slow him down; in 2004, he founded Chambersville Tree Farms, a venture that reflected his passion for nature and beauty, which he operated until 2022. Dean also shared his love and knowledge of roses as an active member of the Collin County Rose Society and the Dallas Area Historical Rose Society.
Dean's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Oswald; his children Laura Oswald Simmons, Julie Oswald, and Glenn Oswald; and his cherished grandchildren Major Oswald, Blaize Oswald, Pearl Oswald, Josie Simmons and Avery Simmons. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathy Montana, and her children Robin Brinson and Kerri Gaston, along with their families.
A memorial service celebrating Dean’s life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse, honoring Dean’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
