Norman Arnold Patton's Obituary
Norman Arnold Patton, 94, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2018 at Grapevine Medical Lodge. Norm was born June 28, 1924 to Cedric and Charlotte (Smith) Patton in Lakewood Ohio. He graduated from Lakewood High School, Hiram College, and received a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Carnegie Institute of Technology. He pursued additional graduate studies at Texas A&M. Norm served his country proudly in Europe during World War II as a communications technician and was awarded the EAME Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars. Norm started his professional career in the laboratory at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA, today know as NASA), and then worked for 38 years for IBM Corporation in New York and Texas in various management positions.Norm was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Meryl (Sunny) Patton of Grapevine, Texas; sister, Janet Chadwick of Littleton, Colorado; daughter, Kathleen Treasure and her husband, Dave of Westerville, Ohio; son, Scott Patton and his wife, Nora of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; step-children: Darla Evans of Trophy Club, Texas; Scott Evans and his wife, Rosana of Grapevine, Texas and Colleen Davis and her husband, Dan of Granite Bay, California; nephew, Darrell Mann and his wife, Karen of Littleton, Colorado and niece, Debbie Cress of Fremont, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Norm loved to sail, sing, tinker in his workshop and was a life-long golfer. In his retirement years, he was an avid reader, blogger and bridge player, and traveled with his wife Sunny. He was a proud and active member of VFW Post 5074 in Roanoke, Texas and a volunteered for Metroport Meals on Wheels in Roanoke. Norm was a faithful and involved member of Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club, Texas.A Memorial Service celebrating Norm’s life will be held at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club on Saturday, October 13 at 11:00 am. Graveside services with United States Military Honors will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 1:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Norm’s name can be made to Metroport Meals on Wheels, PO Box 204, 428 N Hwy 377, Roanoke, Texas 76262.
