Norwood Martin Brenneke's Obituary
Norwood Brenneke passed away July 9, 2023 due to complications from prostate cancer. He was born October 2, 1933 in Dennison, TX to A.M. (Gus) Brenneke and Mary Leah Norwood Brenneke. He graduated from Schreiner Institute and North Texas College (now University of North Texas). He married Carol Ann McGlamery August 20, 1955 and they started their married life stationed in Chicago while on military duty.
Following his military service, they relocated back to Texas where they lived in Dallas, Plano, Palestine and Arlington. His professional life was predominantly spent in his Bookkeeping and Tax service.
Other than his family, World War II history, and sometimes his golf game, his true love was his membership and leadership in numerous civic and charitable organizations. His favorites were Lions Club, Masons, and Church Finance most recently St. Philip’s in Palestine. He was a past Lions Club District Governor and Masonic Worshipful Master.
He was most proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Carol, daughter Sharon Sholden (Joe), grandchildren Lauren Riter (Matt), Stephen Sholden (Tulip), and great-grandchildren Andrew Riter and Emma Riter. Additionally, he is survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marilyn and David McGlamery and Paulette and Ken Ownbey along with nieces Betsy Dean, Becky Laird (Robert), Nancy Kampe (Carsten), Susan Schaab (Arnold), Gail McGlamery (Trevor), Kim Owens (Steve), and nephew Jason McGlamery.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Tom Dean, and brother-in-law Jim McGlamery.
