Odessa Hickman Reid's Obituary
Odessa Reid passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on January 18, 2015. She was born April 10, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, and was a graduate of Elliott Business College. Odessa was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas for 59 years, and spent much of her time both studying and teaching the Bible, and supporting the Church’s missions. She was also a talented artist and left behind many beautiful oil paintings. For more than 20 years, she worked as the Manager of the Ladies’ Jewelry Dept at Sterling Jewelry on Northwest Hwy in Dallas. Odessa is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Al Reid, as well as four brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one sister, Frances Prator, age 96, of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Gloria Gage and husband, James of Carrollton, Texas; Jane Melton and husband, Steve of Dallas; D’Ann Dagen and husband, Evan McShirley of Azle, Texas; four grandchildren, Lisa Reynolds and husband, Jack, Jim Gage and wife, Deanna, Matthew Vaughn, and Will Vaughn; four great-grandchildren, Kristin Reynolds, Troy Reynolds, Samantha Gage, and Alexandra Gage. The visitation for Odessa will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Wilshire Baptist Church, Dallas. Gifts of remembrance may be sent to the “Wilshire Baptist Memorial Fund,” 4316 Abrams Rd, Dallas, TX 75214, or flowers may be sent from Rembrandt Florist, Dallas.
