Olive Jane Davis McAllister's Obituary
Services for Olive Jane Davis McAllister will be held at Restland Memorial Cemetery, 12:30 PM on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Dr Calvin Kent will officiate. Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Mrs McAllister passed away peacefully in her home, on Monday March 8, 2010 at the Grandview Towers in Lake Arrowhead CA where she lived after moving from Dallas in 1997. Mrs. McAllister was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, over one hundred years ago, August 26, 1909. She moved to Dallas, Texas as a teenager, where she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She graduated from Sunset High School in the first graduating class of 1927. After attending Mary Hardin-Baylor College, she married and became a homemaker. In 1940 she and her husband Millard joined Park Cities Baptist Church where they were active as church leaders in many areas of fellowship. Mrs. McAllister eventually went to work for Abbott’s Pharmaceutical Laboratory where she retired in 1975. She had a love of life that touched all she knew. Throughout her life she was able to travel the world and visit friends and family everywhere. After moving to Lake Arrowhead to join her family, she became very active in Church of the Woods. She was also a member of The Senior Citizens Center of Twin Peaks and a member of The Worth While Club. She adored being with her friends, family and grandchildren. She led an inspiring life, modeling daily to so many how to face adversity with grace and an optimism that can only be found through a close relationship with God. Mrs. McAllister was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Brumfield Davis and Charles Morgan Davis, her husband Millard Fuller McAllister, daughter Sharon Olive McAllister, and brothers, Charles Morgan Davis, Jr., Dwight Linwood Davis and Gordon Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jane McAllister Bailey and husband Robert Charles Bailey of Lake Arrowhead, CA; grandchildren, Steven Douglas Thornhill of Redondo Beach, CA., Laura Jane Caswell and her husband Johnny Guthrie Caswell and great-grandchildren Sage Guthrie Caswell and Kylie McAllister Caswell of Valencia, CA, step grandchildren Bob, Sue, Julie, Leslie, Jennifer and step great-grandchildren Roy, Christopher, Katie, Celeste, Heather, Michael, Jacob and Daniel. She is also survived by two nieces, Barbara Ann Davis Moore of Dallas and Nita Sue Davis Kent and her husband Calvin of West Virginia, and nephews Charles Morgan Davis III, and wife, Gwen of Dallas, and Dr David Linwood Davis and wife Madge of Shreveport, LA and many great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steve Thornhill, Sage Caswell, Johnny Caswell, David Davis, Gary Moore, Morgan Davis, Pat Canuteson and Scott Chandler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Bailey, Charles Davis and Lt David Davis USMC. A memorial fund has been established in Mrs McAllister’s memory at Church of the Woods, PO Box 2000, Lake Arrowhead, CA 92352
