Olive Jane Stott's Obituary
STOTT, OLIVE JANE 89, passed away in Dallas, Texas on April 23, 2010. She was born March 17, 1921 in Sacramento, California. Jane was the eldest child of her Norwegian immigrant parents, Ole Einar and Elisa Marie Owre. She was class valedictorian when she graduated from Grant High School in Sacramento, in 1959. She earned an Associate of Arts from Grant Technical College, now American River College. Jane worked at McClellan Air Force Base from 1940 to 1955, as a civilian in the Personnel Department. Jane was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married to Jay B. Stott. Last year they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary shortly before her husband passed away from Parkinson’s disease. For nearly 40 years they ran the family business, Jay B. Stott Outdoor Advertising, in Chico, CA. Jane was a member of Faith Lutheran church in Chico since 1955, a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Phi Epsilon Phi and belonged to El Camino Chapter # 428 Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Her and her husband, Jay were also long time members of the Butte Creek Country Club. Survivors include her children and spouses: Corinne and Fred Schwartz of Yuba City, CA; Carla and Paul Hoffman of Dallas, TX; and Monte and JoAnne Stott of Albany, CA. She leaves three beloved grand children: Carl, Sonja, and Annika Stott of Albany, CA. Her brothers and sister-in laws are Edgar and Ruth Owre, Rolf and Beverly Owre, and William (deceased) and Bernice Owre of the Sacramento area. Her nieces and nephew are Christy DeAnda and Catherine Bruner of Sacramento, and Eric Owre of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by many cousins in California and Norway. Jane’s interests included travel and golf. She was always ready for a new adventure. In her life time she had been to four continents exploring the sights of the Hermitage to cruising down the Amazon River. In the past year alone, she enjoyed the King Tut exhibit in San Francisco, spent Christmas in Maui, and celebrated a wonderful birthday in San Francisco, attending the musical, Wicked. Per her request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, Butte County Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
