Oliver Ray Dunavant's Obituary
Oliver Ray Dunavant was born on May 8, 1924 in Pickton, Texas and died November 22, 2016 in Mesquite, Texas. He was one of five children of Marvin and Jesse Dunavant, who have preceded him in death. He lived in the Garland and Rowlett area for over 60 years. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Jean Dunavant; son, Stan and his wife, Roegena; daughter, Judy Vaughan and her husband, David. they have 8 grandchildren: Scott, Drew, Blake, Brad, Sarah, Rachel, Ashley and Caleb. They also have 4 great grandsons. He was a founding member of Saturn Road Church of Christ and served as a deacon for several years. He served our country in Italy in WWII and was one of the last of the greatest generation. He will be remembered for his love of gardening, fishing and football. Among his greatest joys was watching his grandsons play sports. He was a humble man who loved God and lived a quiet life, working hard to provide for his family. He was well loved for his great sense of humor and sweet disposition. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Williams Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Saturn Road Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
