Oneita Mae Lacey's Obituary
Oneita Mae Lacey was born in Calera, Bryan County, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1921, and passed from this life on June 9, 2016, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Dallas Wesley Morgan and Minnie Mae (Sharp) Morgan; her husband Leon C. Lacey; sisters Mamie Augusta Richardson, Jaynie Narvell Badgett, Margaret Henrietta Ausley, Edith Ezell Morgan, and brother Dallas Wesley Morgan, Jr. She is survived by her sister Bobbie Dene Miller, and her husband Don; son David Morgan Lacey, and his wife Joy; grandchildren Justin Louis Lacey and his wife Sarah, and Heather Mae Holland and her husband Jonathan, and great-grandchildren Josiah David Holland, Laurel Mae Holland, and Harper Lynn Lacey, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She graduated from Calera High School and Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant, Oklahoma. She taught in public schools in Anadarko, Oklahoma; Denison, Texas; Lubbock, Texas, and Dallas, Texas for a total of 38 years, as well as teaching in Sunday Schools and Vacation Bible Schools in United Methodist Churches where she lived. She was also actively involved in the Wesley Service Guild/United Methodist Women in the churches she attended. She married Leon C. Lacey on November 1, 1947 at the Waples Methodist Church in Denison, Texas, and their only child, David Morgan Lacey, was born in Denison on February 3, 1950. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, on June 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Restland Memorial Park, where Oneita will be buried beside her husband Leon. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westbury Christian School, 10420 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77096.
