Opal Irene Weant's Obituary
WEANT, OPAL IRENE age 101, passed away peacefully May 1, 2014 at her assisted living facility in Plano where she moved in January after living in Dallas for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Weant and her brother H.D. Pendleton. She is survived by her brother William Pendleton and her sister Etta Mae Bertelsen, her son George Weant and two grandsons, Brian Weant and Kevin Weant. She was born in Bosque County Texas, October 8, 1912, the first born of four children, and lived there thru high school. In 1933 she was invited to come live in Dallas with a cousins family. She worked as a nanny for a family in Highland Park until accepted to attend nursing school at Saint Paul school of nursing. During nursing school, a classmate introduced her to a cousin G Earl Weant, and they married in 1938, bought a house in Dallas in 1939 where she lived until going to an assisted living facility in Dallas. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary the same year her husband passed away in 1989. After nursing school she worked at the hospital and then as a nurse in a doctors office. Burial service will be held May 7, 2014, 10:00am at Restland Memorial Park followed by a service at 11:00am at White Rock United Methodist Church in Dallas.
