Orlando "Lanny" DeAcutis' Obituary
Orlando (Lanny) DeAcutis, 90, died in Christ November 22, 2011. He was born October 10, 1921 in New York City of Italian immigrant parents. In 1945 he married Dorothy Kinard of Dallas, sharing 62 years of marriage until her death, September 21, 2007. After graduating from Pratt Institute of Brooklyn with an Electrical Engineering major, Lanny joined the Marines in 1942, serving 4 years during World War II and the Korean Conflict, remaining active in the reserves and retiring as Marine Colonel in 1975. They settled in Dallas in 1947, with their daughter, Yvonne, and son, John. Lanny worked at Proctor & Gamble as Industrial Engineer, at Dallas County as a data processing analyst, and taught computer programming at Dallas community colleges. He acquired an MBA from SMU in 1970 and an MS in computer science from ETU in 1975. He accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior in mid-life and with Dorothy joined Northwest Bible Church. He is survived by his son, John Albert DeAcutis of Dallas; daughter, Yvonne Christine DeAcutis Taylor and husband, William Taylor of Austin; grandchildren: Christine Warner and husband, Clifton Warner; David Orlando Taylor and wife, Phaedra; Stephanie Twohey and husband, Scranton; and great-grandchildren: Brendan, Cormac, Skye and Bronwyn Warner; Speight and Sohren Twohey; and Ruby Blythe Taylor.
