Orva Christine Wilson's Obituary
Orva “Chris” Wilson, of Dallas, TX, finally shed her well-worn earthly body on July 8, 2023 at the age of 96. She was born to Sidney and Norah Turbyfill at home on a small farm near Randolph, TX, on a snowy Christmas day in 1926. She was the second of four children and dearly loved her siblings: Charles, Marie, and Robert. Chris excelled in school and graduated as valedictorian of her senior class. She was also awarded three college scholarships. After a whirlwind two-week courtship after he returned from WW2 in 1945, Chris married Ben Charles Wilson in a loving union that lasted 63 years. All of her life, she just loved to work and stay busy whether she was helping her daddy in the fields, being a loving homemaker, serving hot lunches at a local school cafeteria, or concluding a successful 17-year career for the Dallas Police Department before retiring in 1988. Chris also enjoyed spending hours tending the yard, playing dominoes or working on puzzles, watching the Texas Rangers with Ben, and hosting family get togethers. She was the glue that held the holidays together and her Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts were legendary. Her Christian faith was always evident in quiet and unassuming ways. And until she was physically unable, she faithfully attended various Baptist Churches. Most recently, she was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney. Even when homebound, she religiously read her daily devotional. Chris loved being a wife, mom, and Mema. She will be missed dearly. Chris is survived by her son Ronald Ben Wilson and wife Pat, son Michael Keith Wilson, son-in-law Gary Turner, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben Wilson and her daughter Dana Turner.
