Orville Lee Collins' Obituary
Orville was born June 1, 1929 in Electra, Texas to Claud and Ella Collins. He passed away August 25, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary; sister, Juanita Weston; and brother, Calvin Collins. Orville is survived by his wife, June; son, Coy Collins; daughter, Cleann Lovaasen and husband, Grant; granddaughter, Amanda Kraemer and husband, Justin; great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Jaxon; numerous nieces and nephews; step children, Linda Byles, Patty Taylor, Lisa Broyles; and step grandchildren, Leann Lucas, Michelle Lucas, Ben Lucas, Shelby Lucas. After graduating from high school, Orville worked as a butcher for A&P foods in Louisiana. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. After his discharge from the military, he located to Fort Worth, Texas where he met his future bride, Rosemary Byrd. The two were married in 1953, and a few years thereafter moved to Richardson, Texas where they raised their family. In 1955, he began a career as a meat inspector with the USDA, where he was employed until his retirement. During retirement, we worked as a cook at the Child Development Center of Richardson East Church of Christ, where he was a member for over 50 years. Several years after Rosemary’s death, Orville reconnected with a former sweetheart, June, who had also been widowed. The two were married in 2011. Orville very much enjoyed his final years volunteering, traveling, and sharing time equally between Richardson and Rosepine, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
