Elmo was a stalwart in the Pleasant Grove Kiwanis Club. We delivered Meals on Wheels together several times, me driving and Elmo taking the food to the client. Our memories of him as our sheriff with Roger telling jokes will live with us forever. He was our favorite curmudgeon, and seemed proud of it.
Uncle Elmo was one of those special people you only have happy memories of! That booming voice of his could only bring a smile! I do remember playing in the alley behind the cleaners. Mainly I just remember him being a wonderful man I always looked forward to seeing!
Love ya.
For a man who hasn't hit a lick in 37 years, I hope you are relaxing in Heaven and not hitting a lick with your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. But I suspect the Lord has your busy doing something. Heck you are probably standing at the Gates with St. Peter collecting Kiwani fines. ??
My thoughts and prayers are with the family…wish I could have been around him more! Love, Betty Jo
I knew Elmo in the 1980's when I was a member of Kiwanis and our business (Barbecs)catered the Kiwanis meeting at the YMCA. I caught up again with Elmo as a member of the chamber in 2008-09. The town of Truscott, Texas came alive when Elmo spoke of it. Elmo was a national treasure.
Elmo Glasscock was indeed a dedicated, loyal and contributing member of our community. My bringing young members of the Dallas Montessori Builders Kiwanis Club to the weekly Kiwanis luncheon (at which Elmo was ALWAYS present) allowed our students to experience this incredible, yet humble contributing member of our society. What a great example he was to all of us as he lived his life to the hilt. Elmo, we will miss you. How fortunate we are to have made you acquaintance. Thanks for the memories!
I only had the opportunity to meet Elmo on two occasions, but in just those two meetings he made a lasting impression on me. I sat next to him during the Kiwanis meetings and I laughed the entire time. I looked forward to going to another meeting just to talk with him. He will definitely be missed!
I came to like and respect a man that I had lunch with only a few times over the course of 4 months. I believe he was blessed….and so am I for having met him. Go with God, my friend.
