OURANIA (NIA) NICOLAOU DAREOS
June 17, 1927-September 26, 2025
Ourania Nicolaou Dareos fell asleep in the Lord on September 26,2025 at
the age of 98.
Nia was born in San Antonio, Texas into a loving Greek immigrant
family on June 17, 1927, the second child of Theodore and Anastasia
Nicolaou. She joined her older brother George and later by her younger
brothers Jelly, Jim and Gus.
Nia's life was firmly rooted in her Orthodox faith, her devotion to family
and her love of service. After her retirement from Texas Instruments, she
devoted many volunteer hours to the main Richardson Public Library
surrounded by all of the books that she loved to read.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter P. Dareos,
parents, Theodore and Anastasia, brothers, George, Jelly and Gus,
nephew, James Nicolaou, sister in law, Irene Karnavas Nicolaou; niece
Marilyn Higgins Nicolaou and nephew, Reed Wells Hickok.
Nia is survived by her brother Jim Nicolaou and wife Katherine and
sisters in law: Kalliope Nicolaou and Antoinette Nicolaou and her many
nieces and nephews.
Her brothers, nieces and nephews, as well as all of her family and
friends, were the joy of her heart. She treasured each of them and was
always a source of encouragement love and fun. A niece remembered
her love of dancing and said that now that Thia Nia must be “dancing
with the angels”.
The family extends it's heartfelt gratitude to all of the dedicated
caregivers who were lovingly at her side in her final years.
Trisagion and funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 7, 2025
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Dallas, Texas.
The burial will take place in San Antonio, Texas.
