In Loving Memory of Dr. Owen Dale Williams
Dr. Williams was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Williams in Boulder, Colorado on December 28, 1931, and died on February 20, 2026. He attended Austin High School and graduated from Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas, in 1953. He married Marcia Ann Orning on June 26th, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Williams graduated from Southwestern Medical School in 1957. His internship and residency at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, TX was interrupted when he joined the USAF Medical Corp as a Captain in 1959. He served until 1961 at Webb AFB in Big Spring, TX. Dr. Williams then finished his 3rd year of Internal Medicine residency and joined the Preston Royal Medical Group in Dallas in 1963. He later established his own internal medicine practice on Inwood Road, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. Dr. Williams was a 1966 Charter Member at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, and also over the years made rounds at multiple hospitals in the Dallas area.
His memberships included the National and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Chi Medical Fraternity, AMA, TMA, DCMS, the Texas Academy of Internal Medicine, the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Internal Medicine. He had been a Clinical Assistant Professor at UTHSC and held staff appointments at Parkland Hospital, St. Paul Hospital, Medical Arts Hospital, Gaston Episcopal Hospital, Bristol Hospital, and Spring Valley Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a son, Brett.
Dale is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Marcia Williams; his children: Mark Williams and his wife, Linda, of Austin, TX; Kathy Knotts of Hermitage, TN; Pam Boyett of Austin, TX and Patty Blair of Mansfield, TX; 9 grandchildren: Michael Williams, Kelsey Williams, Justin Williams (Lexi), Johnny Knotts (Lydia), Kimberly Bagwell (Ross), Johnny Knotts (Lydia), Cory Blair (Tiffanie), Chris Blair (Mari), Callie Blair, and Colin Boyett; and 7 great-grandchildren: Ramsey & Addie Bagwell, Sutton & Cleo Knotts, Carter Blair, and Oliver & Noah Blair.
Funeral services will be held at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel on March 2nd, 2026 at 10:30 AM in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southwestern Medical School or a charity of your choice.
