Pat Davis' Obituary
Ruth Pauline Davis "Pat" passed away on Oct 31, 2024 while preparing a delicious meal, which if you knew her, was her superpower. She was 96. Born and raised just outside of Pampa, Texas, she attended a "little red schoolhouse" (all grades 1-6 in one room, lit by a single hanging lightbulb). Eventually she moved to the "big city" to attend Texas Tech, where this little farm girl was voted best dressed (which explains, until her last days, her quest to find the next perfect outfit. At 23, working for Braniff Airlines in Amarillo, she met the love of her life, and husband of 73 years, Hilton Davis, when she answered the doorbell at a friend's party. They married 6 weeks later, moved to East Dallas, and raised 3 children. Later she earned a master's degree in education from Steven F Austin. Teacher of the Year in 1982, she taught 3rd grade for 20 years in Garland. Pat loved entertaining, playing tennis, trying new recipes, shopping, traveling, holiday decorating, watching sports, bible studies, attending White Rock Methodist Church, and playing card games with friends. A devoted grandmother, she never missed ball games, recitals, graduations, hand-sewing costumes, and slipping dollar bills into her grandchildren's pockets. Pat volunteered for The Dallas Convention Center, Meals on Wheels, The Stew Pot, Visiting Nurses Association, Munger Place, CC Young Beauty Shop, Dallas Arts, The Austin Street Center, and The Dallas Arboretum. Five Star Premier Residences was a wonderful home for Pat and Hilton for the last 5 years, where they met new friends and hosted dear, dear longtime friends. When Hilton passed away in January '24. Pat lost her rock - along with some of the pep in her step. Pat was a force of nature with what seemed like endless energy that she devoted to her family and friends. All who knew and loved her will miss her LET'S-DO-THIS attitude, kindness, generosity and Coca Cola Cake. She is survived by three children: Judi Bruegger (Joe) of Dallas, Nicki Keers (Malcolm) of Wilton, CT, and Bob Davis (Ellen) of Cypress Inn, TN. She had 8 grandchildren: Shannon Threatt, Dakota Davis, Forest Davis, Katie Waterman, Ali Bruegger, Davis Bruegger, Mac Keers, and Robbie Keers. One great-granddaughter Asiya Threatt. We will have a memorial service: White Rock Methodist Church (1450 Old Gate Lane), Sunday, December 29, 2024, 2:00. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to North Texas Food Bank or White Rock Methodist Church.
