Patricia Ann Carroll's Obituary
Born on November 6, 1932 in Hopkins, Minnesota, Patricia Ann Sitar was the fourth child of Frank and Katherine Sitar. Patricia was one of seven siblings who grew up and worked on the family farm. Growing up on a farm during The Great Depression, Patricia worked hard, wasted nothing, and understood that all things have value and are used, useful, recycled, or repurposed.
She attended Catholic schools growing up and developed an unshakable faith that guided and shaped her entire life. In 1954, Patricia met Herbert Joe Carroll on a blind date and fell madly in love. On December 29, 1954 they married. They shared a life for nearly 64 years and had five children together.
In 1967 Pat and Herb moved their family to Dallas, Texas. Once retired they moved to Yantis, Texas to live out their golden years on Lake Fork. Pat enjoyed her flower gardens immensely as they bloomed each year and season. She was always amazed at the beauty. She found great pleasure in watching the birds as they came to visit her bird feeders, always keeping track of who came and what they liked to eat best. And, of course, Pat loved her vegetable garden, always the farm girl at heart.
Pat was known for her kindness to all. Always baking bread and cookies and making tasty snacks to share. Always supporting the poor through Catholic charities, church activities, and lots and lots of prayer.
Pat was also known for her love of books, puzzles and games. Pat always had a book that she wanted to share, and she always had a puzzle on the table waiting to be finished. Pat loved playing games with kids, teenagers, and grown-up alike. Fun games like Chutes and Ladders, Trouble, Double Solitaire, and Scrabble and challenging games such as Bridge, Pinochle, and of course, Cribbage, which she played every day with the love of her life, Herb.
Pat was a friendly person and always ready for a party. She was very inclusive in all that she did. She enjoyed her daily walks with her friends, Taco Tuesdays, Game Day, and Birthday dinners. She had a large group of friends, who helped her with her yardwork; and she repaid them in homemade bread and homemade cookies. It was considered a wonderful deal by all involved.
Pat led a faith filled life, always believing that God would take care of her, her needs, her family, and her friends. She never doubted God’s plan for her. She trusted Him in her darkest moments and praised him in her brightest times.
Patricia passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 92 from heart failure. She will be truly missed, but she is resting and is at peace with the Heavenly Father joining the love of her life, Herb, and their beautiful son, Michael.
Patricia is survived by her sisters, Ginny Risley and Kathy Bury, her children Tim Carroll and wife, Gwen, Paddy Carroll and wife, Donna, Colleen Forbush and husband, Michael, and Wendy Long and husband James, her grandsons Sebastian Forbush, Sean Carroll, Casey Carroll and wife, Stephanie, her granddaughters Kelsey Forbush, Maura Wills and husband, Rob, and Bernadette Forbush, and her great-grandsons Elijah Carroll, Nicholas Carroll, and Johnny Carroll.
