Patricia Jean Doss' Obituary
Patricia Jean Doss passed from this earthly life into heaven on January 18, 2026. Pat as she was known, was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 16, 1935 to Earl B. Murphy and Beatrice Golden Murphy.
She grew up in Port Arthur, making many close friends. Having a love for piano, she took lessons that went all through High School culminating in her minoring in music in college. She graduated from her beloved college, the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s in business administration with an emphasis in secretarial studies. She met her future husband, Darrell Doss, during her senior year, and they were married November 26, 1958. Together, Pat and Darrell had two daughters, Daria McNabb and Julie Doss.
Pat’s love was teaching piano. She started teaching when Daria was in fifth grade and Julie was in kindergarten. Incredibly, 54 years later, she was still at it when she passed. Pat taught piano, but she also greatly cared about her students and was like a counselor to some of them when life was difficult. She deeply loved her husband, two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by two daughters: Daria McNabb (spouse, Peter McNabb) of Forney, Texas and Julie Doss of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Reagan McNabb and Austin McNabb (spouse, Sarah McNabb) and great-grandchildren Alice McNabb and Stacy McNabb.
A graveside service will be held at DFW National Cemetery on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11:00am. Memorial gifts may be given to the Humane Society or Doctors Without Borders.
