Mrs. Patricia Dugan's Obituary
Patricia Carnes Dugan “Pat” was loved by all who knew her. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy and will be greatly missed. Pat was born on May 10, 1937 in Lexington, Kentucky to Thomas Jefferson and Mary Carnes, and passed away after letting those that loved her say goodbye on March 30, 2023. Pat married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Harry R. Dugan III, in 1956. They were married for 44 amazing years. They had their son, Mark Thomas Dugan, in 1957 and loved him more than anything. Pat spent her life taking care of others, as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and executive assistant. She ensured happiness for anyone she cared for. She would often tell stories about taking care of her younger twin sisters, Judi and Peggi, reminiscing that she was the only one who could tell them apart when they were babies. She loved “her twins” dearly. She spent most of her career “taking care of” CA Rundell as his executive assistant. Her fondness of and loyalty to Mr. Rundell was unmatched. When Pat’s beloved husband, Harry, passed away in 2000, Pat took the role of the matriarch of the Dugan family and never missed a chance to spend time with, spoil, and care for her family. Pat spent all her free time with her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sherry, and their three children. Pat was referred to as “Memaw” by her three grandchildren, Amber, Adam, and Brooke. Her grandchildren adored her, just as she adored them. Pat was not just “Memaw” to her grandchildren, however, she was also “Memaw” to anyone who knew her. To know her was to love her. She never missed a game, special occasion, or life event of any of her grandchildren (or great-grandchildren). She was one of those people who could always make you feel special, even if she just met you. She was incredibly thoughtful, never missing an opportunity to send a card or flowers. She was notorious for her expensive taste and love of cashmere. She loved treating her family to nice dinners, celebrating all occasions, reminiscing about growing up in Lexington and her love for her Kentucky family, and bellinis. Pat’s passing leaves a huge void in all the lives that she touched, her family’s especially. Her family takes comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with her beloved Harry, something she looked forward to since his passing. Pat is survived by her son, Mark Dugan and wife Sherry; three grandchildren, Amber Morris and her husband, Taylor, Adam Dugan and his wife, Whitney, Brooke Dillow and her husband, Madison; five great-grandchildren, Keller and Emerson Morris, Oliver and Riley Dugan, and Hayes Dillow; sister, Peggi Frazier and husband, Don and sister Judi Burchard; and her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews (“Kentucky family” and “Arlington family”) whom she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Harry R. Dugan III; her parents, Thomas Jefferson Carnes and Mary Carnes; father-in-law, Harry R. Dugan II and mother-in-law, Mildred Dugan.
Service will be Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10am at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Interment will follow.
