Patricia Joyce 'Pattie' Faldon's Obituary
Patricia “Pattie” Joyce Faldon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 25, 1936 in Van Buren, Arkansas, to Fern and Gerald Settle. Pattie was the cherished wife of Marvin Faldon Sr., with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Pattie spent part of her childhood with her beloved Aunt Joyce, her namesake, and Uncle Sonny Scales. At an early age, she began playing the piano by ear and later developed a passion for basketball, earning a scholarship for her talent at the University of Central Arkansas. It was after Marvin returned home from service in the Air Force that a great love story began, on March 4th 1955, leading to a life together that spanned Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. Pattie was a dedicated community member, serving as a Girl Scout Leader, President of the PTA, and a basketball coach for her daughters. She was also a talented seamstress, lovingly making Marvin’s first suits and ties. Pattie’s greatest joy was her family. She was an adored wife to Marvin and a loving mother to their son, Marvin Faldon Jr., and his wife Judy; their daughters, Pattie Burke and her husband Neil; Laura Tate and her husband Monte; and Elizabeth Davies. She was known as PJ to her granddaughters Devon Ray, Whitney Jones, Spenser Housewright, Jessica Merritt, Christin Chavoya, Paige Knouse, Amanda Garrison, Kelly Farr, Logan Oliverie, and to her grandsons Taylor Reese and Dalton Tate. Her life was further blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Roland and Patricia Marie Jones, Bailey Merritt, Jackson and Luke Housewright, Oliver and Owen Ray, Leila and Knox Chavoya, Lane and Clarke Reese, Remi Farr, and Burke Garrison. Her life was filled with love, purpose, and joy, especially when surrounded by her loved ones during family vacations, holidays, and special gatherings. Pattie was also known for her love of interior design, home tours, and time spent on the golf course with Marvin. She was a loyal friend and confidant, always there for those who needed her. She believed in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and her faith was a guiding force in her life. She was a devoted member of St. Andrew Methodist Church, where she found fellowship and spiritual growth. Pattie was preceded in death by her son, Jay Benny Faldon; her parents, Fern and Gerald Settle; her sisters, Sue Burkhalter, Delores Mikkelson, Ann Farrington, Gerry Rood; and her brother, David Settle. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, to be treasured by her devoted husband, Marvin; their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Pattie will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, generosity, joy of life, and the deep love she had for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In loving memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and a love that will endure forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
