Patricia Gayle Flowers' Obituary
Patrica Gayle Flowers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away in Dallas, TX on June 10, 2025. She was 86 years old, having been born in Dallas, TX on January 2, 1939. Patricia (aka Grandmommy) will be remembered for her love, loyalty, sense of humor and her dedication to her family. She was a devoted wife to John Leslie Flowers, Jr. for 67 years and a loving mother to Linda (Rick) Collins. Frank (former spouse Betty) Flowers, and Brenda (Mike) Lander. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Kristin (Josh) Cope, Kit (Rebecca) Collins, Jessica (DJ) Green, Rachel Lander, Rebekah Lander, Kelly Flowers, Sarah Lander, and Leah (Grant) Chumbley. The arrival of her great-grandchildren Cameron and Kasdin Cope, Grace and Caleb Collins, Kennedy and David Green, and Levi Chumbley enriched her life and brought her great joy.
Her mother and step-father, Mary Lois Bryant and Paul C, Bryant, were moving to California as Patricia was graduating from high school in Albany Texas. She made the decision to strike out on her own and moved to Dallas. At the age of 17, she got a job in the bookkeeping department of Mercantile National Bank, where she met John, her future husband. They married two years later and had Linda, Frank and Brenda in quick succession, becoming a stay-at-home mom with three children by the time she turned 22.
Their early married life was busy, with John working two jobs and Pat running the household and taking care of three small children. For fun, Pat and John played tennis, were in a bowling league, played bridge with neighbors, and enjoyed going to the drive-in theater. Pat was a life-long fan of Elvis Presley, and a die-hard Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. They began attending a local church, and Pat made a profession of faith and was baptized on the same day as their daughter Linda.
Once their kids were out of elementary school, John and Pat made a decision for Pat to return to work, so they could save for college, sacrificing to provide college educations for their three kids. In later years, Pat continued to put family first, helping take care of her parents as they got older and taking care of grandkids. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, and was surrounded by most of her family when she passed.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, John, her children Linda, Frank and Brenda, her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025, followed by services at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Press on Missions in her memory.
