Patricia "Peggy" Mathes' Obituary
Patricia Marie Golden Mathes of Plano, Texas passed away December 22, 2010 in Plano Texas at the age of 81. She was born on Houston, Texas January 24, 1929. She is survived by her sister Catherine Golden Danna (Katy, Texas); her 3 children Donald Mathes (Charlottesville, VA), Patricia Mathes-Burnett (Richardson, TX), Charles Mathes (Houston, TX); and 9 grandchildren. Pat, as she was known to her friends, entered the field of architecture at a time when few women worked outside the home, graduating from Rice in 1951 with her bachelor’s degree and 1952 with her master’s in architecture. She spent her early career in Arabia with ARAMCO, returned to the states and spent the rest of her career working as a commercial architect while being a wife and raising her 3 children. Pat was a world traveler, avid reader, devoted mother, and Christian of deep faith who loved dancing, opera, ballet, and musical productions. Her family will receive friends on December 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with the Rosary service to be held at 7:00pm at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville, Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. The Funeral service will be held on December 30, 2010 at 11:30am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 Plano Parkway West, Plano, Texas 75093.
