Patricia Ann Nichol's Obituary
Patricia Ann Nichol passed away at the age of 90 on February 18th, 2020 with her family by her side, telling their favorite stories and entertaining her until her very last breath. Pat was a caring and loving person to all she met, especially to her family and friends, who cherished her. She leaves a hole in our hearts that can’t be filled. Pat was born on October 1st, 1929 in Warsaw, New York. She moved to Dallas when she was five years old, graduated from Highland Park High School and attended the University of Texas. Although born in New York, she considered herself a Texan at heart. She met her “boyfriend” as she affectionately referred to her husband of 63 years, Chock, at the Highland Park Swimming Pool when she was 16 years old and the rest was history. Over the course of their marriage they raised four children, were devout members of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and then St. Patrick Catholic Church, ran a successful orthodontic practice, hosted countless parties and gatherings and were known for their margarita happy hours in Lake Highlands. Pat and Chock loved the beaches of Destin and Cancun where they renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Pat was a housewife that taught her children lessons in love, discipline and respect; and constantly reminisced about raising them in her later years. Pat was an avid reader, competitive bingo and card player and was a talented artist. She had a passion for sewing, ceramics, wood work, painting, and recently making beautiful pieces of jewelry, rosaries and crocheting precious stuffed animals for her great-grandbabies. In the last years of her life, Pat enjoyed dinners with her closest friends and was known as the best party host at the Overlook in CC Young. Pat is survived by her daughters: Melanie Baloga and husband Jeff, Colleen Elledge and Melinda Miller; as well as her sister, Molly Gondolf. Grandma Nichol is survived by her grandchildren: Ricky and wife Emily, Michael and fiancee’ Mikey, Nicki and husband Jeremy, Jorn, Ali, Jeff, Robert, Heather, Hayley, Jennifer and husband Rich; in addition to her great-grandchildren: Eden, Mila, Olivia, Charlie, Krew, Kendell, Skye, Jonah, Joshua, and Mac. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Charles W. Nichol, son Charles Nichol Jr., son-in-law Richard Elledge, parents William and Mary McClusky, parents-in-law William and Merle Nichol, sisters: Betty Manila and husband Bruce, Margaret McElroy and husband Paul, Dorothy Franz and husband Matt, her little brother Billy McClusky, and brother-in-law Jack Gondolf.
A rosary for Pat will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11:30AM, a Funeral Mass at 12 noon and a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church in memory of Patricia Nichol.
