Patricia Schackel Hicks' Obituary
Patricia Schackel Hicks passed away peacefully on July 14, 2020. Pat was born January 13, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, to Philip and Leah Schackel. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Trinity University in San Antonio. During her college years she met and married James L. Hicks. They moved to Dallas where they lived for more than 40 years. Pat worked for many years at Software Spectrum and retired from Insight. She was also a long time member of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Pat was preceded in death by Jim in 2006 and their beloved daughter Karen in 1982. She is survived by her son Richard Hicks, daughter-in-law Rachel, and grandsons Sam and Barrett. The family will receive friends at a graveside service Saturday, July 25th at 10am at Restland of Dallas (facemasks and social distancing are required). The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Grand Brook Memory Care in Grapevine and Anchor of Hope Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Pat’s name.
